Cook – U.S. Brig Niagara

Job Description:

The Flagship Niagara League (FNL) is seeking applicants for the position of Cook for the 2023 summer sailing season.

The ships cook is responsible for overseeing all galley operations and providing regular meals for the crew of the U.S. Brig Niagara.

We seek applicants who are passionate about traditional sail, the continuance of square rig seamanship and sail training.

Responsibilities:

The cook has primary responsibility for providing daily meals for up to 49 crew and trainees onboard and manages an assistant cook. Niagara has a wood fueled, cast iron stove with which all meals are cooked underway, as well as shore facilities.

This position requires strong competencies in provisioning and menu planning, a commitment to keeping facilities clean and sanitary, and the personal skills to be a positive force in ship’s morale.

Qualifications/Experience:

Applicants should relevant cooking experience, experience on vessels preferred, and be a U.S. citizen.

All crew will be required to follow Covid-19 health and safety guidelines as set by FNL, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, CDC and USCG.
Vaccination for Covid-19 is required.

Compensation & Benefits: 

Pay is $1200 bi-weekly. Berthing on the ship and meals are provided. There are shore facilities for crew at the Erie Maritime Museum.
